Please note I use Hypnobabies-friendly language for this story.
Around week 37 I started feeling my body gearing up to prepare for birthing Violet, my first babe. I know most first time Mom’s go late, but I still helped my body get ready through natural means like walking, squatting, yoga, my daily Hypnobabies Tracks, visualization/meditation and at 39 weeks I began acupuncture.
I know it’s a little hokey to say this, but when I spoke to Violet about her birth I ...
Continue Reading →It’s that time of year again! The time when we realize just how much damage we did to ourselves over the holidays and recommit to getting in shape. It’s also the time of year when companies try to push every fat flush, detox and transformation cleanses down your throat. Well, I’m getting on my soapbox today to tell you some real “secrets” to loose fat fast, and you can put away your credit cards, this won’t cost you a thing.

They say “the road to hell is paved with good intentions”. That’s my feeling about writing a post about the specifics of my rotator cuff injury. But finally I found some time to devote to this! As with all of my more technical entries, please understand the disclaimer that I am not a doctor. This is my personal experience and I’m sharing it anecdotally with you. If you’re in pain I highly recommend getting it properly diagnosed by a Physical Therapist, ...

On a whim I created a new recipe last night that I’m excited to share with you, but first, a story about getting strong. I’ve been upping my strength training and cardio lately as I continue to work towards improving myself as a climber. I was told by a trainer a few months ago that I would benefit by working on my upper back more, so I’ve been focusing on rhomboids, lats and traps but neglected to really focus on ...

I’ve been waiting for it since January, when I sold my Fitbit Surge to my fiancé because it was just too bulky on my wrist (he loves it, btw). I’m pretty darn in love with it already. First and foremost for superficial reasons: purple is my favorite color and it’s actually a deeper purple in person than on the website and the LED is purple too, woot!

We’re just a month away from The Ring of Fire comp at Central Rock Gym in Watertown, MA. This year it’s just a citizen’s comp, as CRG will be hosting SCS Nationals that weekend. Ring of Fire was the first comp I participated in and I’m not ashamed to say I came in dead last in the beginner’s category. Ok, I’m not proud to have come in dead last, but you have to start somewhere ...

I just got back from an inspiring yoga retreat in Costa Rica! It felt so good to take the time to practice yoga and meditation with a group of amazing women while soaking up the sun and local culture. Now that I’m back in chilly Boston, with yet another storm snowing me in, I’m enjoying spending a couple of days cooking, cleaning and grounding myself.
We were particularly blessed on this journey to have an amazing team of personal ...

Another Monday meant another early morning at Central Rock Cambridge. Today I worked a bit more on power and footwork than on endurance. Here was the routine (the warmup is similar to last week):

I still owe updates to my Thanksgiving post, but somehow the time has flown and we’re past the holidays and on to another new year! I’m pretty happy with how my physical fitness went in 2014, but I definitely have plans to ramp it up in 2015. My biggest fitness accomplishment was my commitment to and improvement in climbing. I can’t believe that it was a year ago that I was gifted a membership to Central Rock Gym, but ...
